马新咖啡茶业联合总会总会长拿督何子孟认为，我国同样也面对飙车族问题，但政府却不能为了解决此问题而禁止销售摩哆车，同样的，当局不能为了解决醉酒驾驶问题而禁酒。他说，禁止生产及销售酒类来杜绝醉酒驾驶问题，将为不少行业带来影响，政府更应从执法及刑罚上著手。我国近日来频频传出酒驾所导致的死亡车祸，掀起实施禁酒令的课题，其中吉隆坡市政局率先宣布冻结发出售酒执照，引起各界哗然。吉隆坡市政局是于昨日通过官方脸书发文告，宣布将于即日起冻结发出新的售酒执照，接下来也将加紧对付无牌售酒的店家。
售卖啤酒无需申请售酒执照
拿督何子孟解释，售卖酒类是获得土地局的批准下，才能通过地方政府发出售酒的商业执照；而唯有售卖酒精浓度高于5%的烈酒需申请售酒执照，售卖啤酒则无需申请售酒执照。“我们今年3月曾于前朝政府进行商谈，当时获得关税局及财政部决定售卖啤酒是无需要售酒执照。”
他补充，该会部分会员有销售烈酒，因此是需要需申请售酒执照。
只针对新申请 忧更新遭刁难
拿督何子孟对说，根据该会所了解，这次的冻结售酒执照是针对新申请，包括新开张且打算售酒的业者，在这项新决策下将不会获得市政局批准售酒执照。
他说，至于已获批售酒执照的业者则不会受影响，惟会员也担心未来在更新执照上面对麻烦，而相关细节也尚未明朗及与当局谈及。
因此，他说，该会位于雪隆区的属会代表也会安排与市政局会面及对话，借此向当局提出该会的意见及看法。
Just like illegal racing, the Govt just cannot solve the problem by prohibiting the sales of motorcycles. Drink driving is the same. The Govt should think positively. Deal with the disease symptomatically. The Govt should take more stringent steps to strengthen enforcement of the law and to increase heavier penalties to drive in the idea that drink-drive is a serious offence. It endengers the lives of the innocent road users. There is some confusion in the directive of DBKL liquor licence issue. Selling of liquor needs approval from the DO and a liquor licence from the local Govt whereas selling of beer does not require a licence to sell. This time around the issue involves new applications for new liquor licence.
