Penang will be re-approved for dine-in from next Monday (May 18).

Penang Chief Minister announced that all restaurants in Penang will be re-approved for dine-in from next Monday (May 18).He said at a press conference today that the Penang State Executive Council made this decision on May 13, and the local government law enforcement officials will work with the executive members of the Penang local government and the Penang Health Bureau to formulate the second phase of open dining Related guidelines. He said that in order to facilitate the catering industry to comply with standard operating procedures, the Penang state government will introduce a contact tracking system called Penang Contact Tracer (PGCare).

“Businesses can log in to the system through www.pgcare.my or www.penanglawancovid19.com . The PGCare app allows merchants to record customer information in a simple three-step process, which also meets the requirements of the National Security Council. “

He pointed out that these steps include scanning the QR code, filling in the information, and showing it to the merchant after completion.”The system not only saves time and reduces touch, but also ensures that the customer’s information is safe and will not be misused. PGCare only records the customer’s name and contact number. Except for the state government, everyone, including businesses, cannot access all information. “He added that only at the request of the Ministry of Health will the state government obtain the relevant information as a follow-up investigation of new coronary pneumonia. All data can only be kept for 30 days and will be automatically deleted with the approval of Penang Health Bureau.

“Therefore, I call on businesses and people to use the system properly. The reason why we implement the relevant standard operating procedures is because we love ourselves, family members, and communities, just like the name of PGCare.”

He pointed out that the PGCare app is a project launched through a public-private partnership, which is also one of the results of the digital round table held by Digital Penang on April 20.

He also said that this means that starting next Monday, Penang will fully implement the Conditional Action Control Order (PKPB), which is consistent with all areas approved by the National Security Council.

He reminded that although Penang has fully opened up the areas that are allowed to operate under the PKPB, it still calls on everyone to continue to follow standard operating procedures and public health measures, including maintaining social distance, wearing masks, and using soap Wash your hands and observe the symptoms of new coronary pneumonia.

He was also pleased to announce that the “Penang State Phased Recovery Strategy” has been endorsed by public health experts, including virologist Datuk Lim of the University of Malaya, while the senior minister of defense, Datuk Seri Isman Sabri, recently Announced that Penang has a compliance rate of 98%, together with Pahang and Malacca has become the state with the highest compliance rate in Malaysia.
