The Malaysia Singapore Coffee Shop Proprietors' General Association has urged the Selangor state government and the Federal Territories Ministry to allow restaurants to return to their pre-Covid-19 hours.
"In some states like Pahang, they (restaurant operators) have been allowed to revert back to their normal operating hours," said its president Datuk Ho Su Mong, who added that in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, many coffee shops and eateries depend on business after midnight.

In the recovery movement control order (MCO), restaurants are allowed to operate from 7am to midnight.
He added that association members have been appealing to the state government to allow coffee shops and eateries to revert back to normal operating hours.
"If this prolongs, many businesses will close," he said on Saturday (July 18).
Ho estimated a total of 2,000 food operators would close down if the current economic climate continues.
"After midnight, a lot of nightlife happens. Due to their working hours some people come to coffee shops and eateries after midnight," he said.
Ho added that currently, restaurants have to close and begin cleaning up by 11pm.
"That one hour can mean business for restaurant owners, so we appeal to the government to allow us to revert back to our normal opening hours," he said.
